FROM PROTOTYPE TO PEDAGOGICAL FAVORITE
L’Ara is a creation born in Quebec from the minds of three passionate musicians, as part of their product design studies at Université Laval. Their initial observation was striking: there were no tactile, concrete, screen-free tools available to allow students to unleash their musical creativity. They then took on the mission of offering musical creation tools to make it intuitive and accessible to everyone.
From its inception, L’Ara won over educators and music education specialists in Quebec. Faced with this enthusiasm, what was originally a university project quickly transformed into a genuine business venture.
Designed and manufactured locally, L’Ara continues to evolve at the pace of school needs to inspire a whole new generation of creators. In September 2026, Ara celebrated its fifth anniversary and took the opportunity to unveil its latest version of the instrument, now electronic.

Although extremely long and expensive to produce, this was the first version to be manufactured in multiple copies. About forty were created.

Through continuous improvements, we were able to design a relatively inexpensive Ara that is faster to manufacture, which allowed us to install it in over 150 schools!
